Overview: The Merrell Developer II position plays a key role in the support for a designated apparel category in the Apparel and Accessories Division. Key responsibilities include leading the development of Merrell Apparel and assisting in the execution of the global Apparel Division initiatives. As Wolverine World Wide expands its portfolio of brands into new apparel lines, this position will have an exciting opportunity to be a part of our growth initiatives.
Responsibilities: - Support & assist Design in establishing all product specifications required in the Tech Pack including sketches, measurements, BOMs, and prototype critiques.
- Prepare and maintain accurate specifications for every product.
- Act as a proactive conduit between the product line manager, designer and contractor throughout the development of the design idea.
- Ensure the timeliness and clarity of the proto critiques, accuracy of the specification pack and eventually the accuracy of the sales sample and production tech packs.
- Create documented critiques of each prototype against its agreed product specification, tracking all comments, changes and specifications during the following stages of critique:
Garment measurement. Fit session and Design review on fit model with designer and PLM. - Eliminate errors and delays by proactively communicating with contractors, sourcing team, material suppliers and fabric suppliers during the entire development process.
- Assign style and color codes to each product
- Work with contractor to maintain an accurate BOM and costing sheet for each style.
- Carry out the development of products following the agreed upon design and development process and timelines on time, accurate, and in full.
- Follow a product brief and assist designer to deliver a product that adheres to a specific target FOB.
- Drive value engineering throughout the design process: construction, consolidation of fabrics, zippers, and trims.
- Possess basic comprehension of the environmental challenges within each product concept (fabric, construction, dyeing, etc).
- Partner with Sourcing team to continuously improve supply chain efficiency.
Secondary Responsibilities

Qualifications: Must have:
- 6+ years development experience in Apparel.
- Strong computer skills. Adobe Illustrator, Excel, Word and preferably WebPDM
- Strong ability to multitask and adhere to deadlines. Delivers accurate data on-time and in-full.
- Basic knowledge of apparel manufacturing, patternmaking, fabrication, garment fit/construction.
Ability to:
- Communicate complex concepts and technical instructions to people who speak English as a secondary language.
- Accept accountability. Identify solutions
- Comprehend basics of apparel industry: retail, wholesale aspects.
- Understand the product development process.
Must be:

Other:
- Moderate travel required, both domestic and international
