This is a Santa Barbara based position.
Objective: The Director of Sales is responsible for the management and growth of the wholesale sales channel. This includes planning, budgeting and implementation across all markets and industry sectors. This role is responsible for developing Horny Toads next phase of wholesale channel growth. The role will create the strategy for the wholesale channel for all industry sectors of Horny Toad distribution and the outdoor industry sector for Nau distribution and successfully execute that strategy to achieve an aggressive 5 year growth plan. This position is for a leader with strong management skills and a successful track record in sales and business development.
Responsibilities: Participate as a member of the senior leadership team as an advocate for the wholesale channels and a key participant in strategic planning at the company level. Develop, implement and execute successful wholesale channel sales plan. Establish short and long term sales goals for all accounts and territories; identify key metrics to measure results. Cultivate relationships with decision makers and leaders in all key accounts and direct accounts including international partners. Expand existing account relationships and build new key dealers and channel opportunities. Manage and lead independent sales force in 9 territories including ongoing evaluation of rep force. Assess sales representative incentives to better match the organizations goals and enhance quality dealer relationships and service. Manage and support Dealer Services team and sales coordinator. Build a world class team; define personnel developmental needs and provide necessary training for succession. Interview, hire and train employees as necessary; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Manage to business trends and develop new opportunities and continuous improvements in the sales function. Identify and execute opportunities for functional process improvement. Work closely with operations to establish clear reporting tools to share results and track progress to goals. Travel to trade shows, regional shows and key line showings to insure clear brand message and identify sales opportunities by account. Plan and execute successful twice annual sales meetings. Drive sales forecasting process and implement improvements for a more sophisticated process. Participate in the planning of future product lines and new extensions; assist in identifying business opportunities with key items and categories that can grow business, assist with market strategy, product merchandising & pricing and communicate feedback from buyers and retailers. Work with the Brand and Marketing teams to develop creative strategies to connect the brands and products with target consumers in domestic and international wholesale channels. Participate in budgeting process and manage the sales department budgets, performance measurement and reporting.

Desired Experience Bachelor's degree (B. A.) required, MBA preferred. Eight or more years in sales leadership roles. Understanding of retail, apparel (and category associated complexities) and account base.
